My woodworking journey began in 2019, building garden boxes in my garage with just a few power tools. Then, somewhat unexpectedly, a customer asked if I could build them a basement bar. I took on the challenge, learned along the way, and that first bar opened the door to what DJG Woodworking has become today.

With every new customer came new ideas, different styles, and opportunities to improve my techniques. Customers would bring me inspiration from bars they had seen and ask, “Can you build something like this?” More often than not, my answer was absolutely.

One thing that has remained important to me throughout that growth is the materials I build with. Every bar I build is made from 100% real wood products — from solid softwoods and hardwoods to quality hardwood plywood. No particle board or cheap furniture board. My goal is to build something that not only looks great when it leaves my shop, but feels solid and is made to be enjoyed for years to come.

Today, I offer a wide variety of custom bar styles designed to fit different homes, spaces, and aesthetics. And while there are plenty of styles I've built before, I'm just as excited about the ones I haven't. I enjoy taking on something new, figuring out how to make it work, and turning a customer's idea into a finished piece they can enjoy for years to come.

What started with a few tools in a garage has grown into a business built around custom craftsmanship, quality materials, new challenges, and creating something that's truly yours.

Another important part of how I build is that every bar is designed and constructed in sections. This allows me to completely build and finish your bar in my shop, while still making basement access easy—even when stairs, hallways, or doorways are tight. Once installed, the sections are joined together and the seams are concealed with finished trim, creating the look and feel of one continuous, built-in piece.

This approach also means your bar doesn't necessarily have to stay behind if you move. Because it can be carefully disassembled into sections, it can be removed from your basement and potentially installed again in your next home.

Just as importantly, nearly all of the construction, sanding, staining, painting, and finishing happens in my shop—not inside your home. Instead of turning part of your house into a jobsite for weeks, I arrive with your bar already built and finished. Most installations can be completed in roughly 2–3 hours, allowing you to enjoy a truly custom bar without the mess and disruption of a lengthy in-home construction project.
